Community Marketing Lead

Lead the charge on building Redpanda community with marketing programs that drive community awareness, growth and engagement

We are building Redpanda, a real-time streaming engine for modern applications. Redpanda is used by Fortune 1000 enterprises pushing hundreds of terabytes a day, and by the solo dev prototyping a React application on her laptop. We go beyond the Kafka protocol into the future of streaming, with inline WASM transforms and geo-replicated hierarchical storage. Think of it as a data API platform that scales with you from the smallest projects to petabytes of data distributed across the globe. We are on a mission to enable every developer to supercharge their real-time applications.

Reporting to our Head of Growth, this role will lead our efforts in growing the Redpanda developer community while building awareness for the company. You will be our first community marketer and help shape the function. You will have oversight of our strategy for events (digital and in-person), social media, as well as programs for influencers, community champions. This is a cross-functional role that will require close collaboration across marketing, customer success, product and sales to help us reach our community goals.

You Will

  • Devise overarching Redpanda community (users of Redpanda) strategy including platforms, key processes, and metrics.

  • Own strategy and implementation of community channels (forums, Slack etc.).

  • Develop quarterly plans for events (conferences, meetups, webinars, livestreams, Twitter Spaces etc.) and execute events.

  • Operate our social presence including Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and others as the business evolves.

  • Build and manage a high performing influencer network.

  • Orchestrate Redpanda swag with creativity and quality.

  • Implement programs that recognize community champions and contributors.

You Have

  • Passion for all things community including growth, engagement, and relationships.

  • Hands-on experience in hosting logistics for events in online and offline formats.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage social presence and grow community engagement via Twitter, Linkedin, Twitch, and other developer-centric channels.

  • Meticulous project management skills, ability to collaborate in remote environments, high bar for quality of output.
